Stainless Steel Gate Valve

Stainless Steel Gate Valve

Stainless steel gate valve is a type of valve used to control the flow of liquids and gases by removing a valve (or wedge) from the fluid path. It works by moving the gate up or down to open or close the flow. A gate valve is generally used when a straight fluid flow with minimal restriction is desired.

The main functions of a gate valve are as follows:

  • On/off control: used primarily to fully close or open rather than to control the fluid.
  • Path flow: The valve moves linearly and perpendicular to the fluid flow.
  • Low pressure drop: When fully open, the valve offers minimal resistance to flow, resulting in low pressure drop.
  • Full bore design: This means that the internal bore of the valve matches the diameter of the pipe and allows unrestricted flow when the valve is fully open.
  • Gate valves are often used in water systems, oil and gas pipelines, chemical plants, and other industrial applications where a tight and reliable shut-off is required.
  • Municipal water supply: Gate valves are commonly used in water mains and distribution pipelines because they provide a reliable means of completely shutting off flow when maintenance or repairs are required.
  • Residential plumbing: In larger residential systems, gate valves are used to control water flow at key points, such as the main water supply line.
  • Heating and cooling: In large HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, gate valves are often used to control the flow of water, steam or refrigerant to different parts of the building or facility.
